Fernando Gonzalez (Chile):
Born July 29, 1980. Is a professional tennis player from Chile. He is known for having one of the hardest hitting forehands in the circuit.[1] In Spanish he is called El bombardero de La Reina ("The La Reina Bomber") and Mano de Piedra ("Stone Hand"). The English-language media has labeled him "Gonzo."
Gonzalez is presently in the semifinals of the French Open after beating Andy Murray 6-3, 3-6, 6-0, 6-4 in the quarterfinals and will now play Robin Soderling who defeated Rafael Nadal in the fourth round.
Robin Soderling (Sweden):
Born 14 August 1984. Is a professional tennis player from Sweden who is known for becoming the first and only tennis player to beat the current ranked World No. 1, Rafael Nadal in the French Open. Currently, he is the only Swede in the top 100 in the ATP Rankings.
At the 2009 French Open, Söderling managed to reach the fourth round of a Grand Slam for the first time after defeating Kevin Kim, Denis Istomin, and David Ferrer. This set up a match with four time defending champion Rafael Nadal in the fourth round. Söderling went on to win, ending Nadal's record Roland Garros winning streak at 31 matches. His 6–2 6–7(2) 6–4 7–6(2) victory over the reigning world #1 made Söderling the only person to ever beat Nadal on the red clay of the French Open, ending both Nadal's 4 year winning streak there and his 48-0 winning streak on clay in five-set matches. Two days later, and as a considerable underdog once more, Söderling backed up his form with a comprehensive 6–1 6–3 6–1 win over two-time semi-finalist Nikolay Davydenko to reach his maiden major semi-final.
