Born in Le Mans, Tsonga has a French mother, Évelyne, and a Congolese father, Didier, who moved to France in the 1970s to play handball.[3] He has a cousin, Charles N'Zogbia, who plays football for Wigan Athletic as a midfielder. Tsonga is a member of the Tennis Club de Paris (TCP) a famous club in Paris, France.
